Upcoming: Mini Meetup + Global WordPress Translation Day 3

Apology for the short notice but this one is really a more casual meetup (a.k.a mini meetup).

On September 30th, we are participating again in the Global WordPress Translation Day – 3rd edition, along with other WP communities around the globe. It’s a day dedicated for WordPress localization and internationalization.

Activities

  • Co-working – basically we’re workmates in a couple of hours working with our WordPress projects.
  • Q&A – it’s going to be an open floor. Feel free to ask WordPress questions; may it be for your projects or just want to learn or share. Since it’s translation day, we will give priority to questions regarding translating in WordPress e.g what plugins we can recommend for a multilingual project, how to make texts in themes and plugins to be translatable.

You can join us either in person or remotely (or both!) I will open a discussion sa Facebook group nato around the same time about WordPress localization and internationalization.

Recap: July 2017 Meetup

Last Saturday was one of the most fun meetups we ever had. There were more than 10 people attended the hangout, and our place was just as special as those who spent the afternoon with us.

WordPress Development with Varying Vagrant Vagrants (VVV)

Guy Magayano, a full-stack developer and UI designer, walked us through this new and alternative workflow in developing your WordPress websites locally. For an overview, VVV is your alternative tool to MAMP, LAMP and XAMPP. I’d encourage developers to checkout and play around this tool. Best of all it’s open source.

Community Time

During the community time, aside from the usual Q&A and discussions, we had this game ‘Pinoy Henyo’ stuffed with words anything related to WordPress. I personally had so much fun and I knew I’ve been organizing this meetup with not much excitement going around but Andrew saved the day! Also, I hope that doesn’t make me a boring person 😀

Pasalamat ❤️

We’re not going to end this without thanking our amazing sponsor during the meetup.

automattic-cmyk

Automattic for the venue, foods and refreshments. They are the company behind WordPress.com, Jetpack, Akismet, Polldaddy among others. You can follow them on Twitter, Facebook, and Github.

We’d also like to thank Andrew (again), an Automattician, for the swags as always, and for such a fun game. More games and prices para more chances of winning!

Thanks to our WordPress Davao community members for the photos

If you were there during the meetup, let us know what you think of our hangout in the comment down below. Or if you have something in mind that you would like to suggest to our community, please do also comment.

Upcoming: WordPress Davao & PHP Women Asia Combined Meetup

Let’s hangout this Wednesday and have a quick catch-up on recent happenings around our WordPress projects. Plus, April Kwong of PHP Women Asia, together with Kathy Dacanay, will be joining us bringing home invaluable insights on PHP—especially empowering women to code—in the Asia tech scene.

With our collaboration with PHP Women Asia for this meetup, we can’t stretch enough how we encourage women to attend our hangout next week 😉 but everyone is equally welcome as well!

Snacks and drinks will be served.

First time we will have a combined meetup and first time we’ll have it on a weekday, so don’t miss it! It’s going to be a great time together and a great way to wrap up our day! 🙂

For more info about the time and place, please visit our meetup.com event page.

Survey: What do you want to see change in the editor experience?

A project is underway to redesign the editing experience in /wp-admin/, and it could use your voice!.

Everyone has used the editor in /wp-admin/, yeah? Whether for your own site, training clients how to add content, or you’ve customized it beyond recognition — and WordPress core would like to hear what you love and hate about the entire experience.

Please take a few minutes to fill out this survey and help influence the future of your favorite CMS, WordPress.

Here’s the link to the survey:
http://wordpressdotorg.polldaddy.com/s/editor-survey

Know someone else that has some thoughts on how we can make this better? Forward them the link! We’d love to hear from them, too!

PS. this is our chance to contribute back in our little way if WordPress has been part of some of the milestones we’ve had

Thank you!
